Leadership for American Unity

One of America’s earliest political cartoons is a message of unity: “Join, or Die.” Published by Benjamin Franklin in 1754, American unity is our first founding ideal—and therefore the purpose of all political leadership. As professionals working in American politics, and as citizens of the United States, how do we choose unity today?

What kind of infrastructure do we need to have a secure border?

How should the US respond to those fleeing violence and oppression?

What conditions in Latin American countries are causing so many people to flee?
