Our Generation

Our Generation

Saying goodbye to my grandfather

Nine years ago, when I said goodbye to my grandfather for the last time in Ohio, I was working on Capitol Hill. The vision for Liberatus was already forming, and when I saw him in his final days I was embarrassed by what daily life in Congress was like.

Hard work matters, but hard work in service to dysfunction and division, and work to dehumanize groups of Americans does not. It destroys dignity, and purpose, and morale, and fails to uphold the Constitution, because the Constitution set up a structure in which we make our country more just and free when we collaborate, build trust, and build endurance.

When I came to DC, I was motivated by career success—as I think we all are—and the wealth that would come with it.

How to build wealth
But wealth is found—as Liberatus writers have written—when we find insignificance, when we find joy at the bottom, when we lead when we're not in charge, when we stay committed to work that matters, when we have the tenacity of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., when we advocate for the marginalized, and when we explore the meaning of freedom itself.

Endurance to become leaders for American unity
If you'd like to take another step to be part of this endurance lifestyle to make our country more just and free, take a look at the articles linked above, written by the Liberatus community over the years.

Our generation—those of us who are alive today—has a calling to live with the same meaning and purpose and grit that The Greatest Generation did. Giving monthly as a Liberatus Advocate to fuel the mission to inspire American unity is about making an internal shift where we become leaders for American unity, and continue creating space to connect with more Americans who want to be part of that, too. You can also be part of writing Volume Two for free by writing a response to a one-question interview.

Reaching $2,000 in monthly contributions is a critical next step to achieve biannual publication. As a former grassroots organizer, campaign manager, and Hill staffer, I have seen firsthand how the stories we write and tell shape how we govern. Both the creative process with policy research and each final volume can serve as a contribution to make our country more just and free.

Thank you and how to sign up as a Liberatus Advocate
Thank you for your consideration, and your past donations! Take time to pray in nature about how you can contribute to making our country stronger. You are welcome to reach out to me using the form at the bottom of the page. You can sign up as a Liberatus Advocate here.

Build endurance,

Weekly Action Point:

Take a look at the vision overview as we look to produce a biannual publication. Take time to pray in nature about your vocation or calling. Then, you can set up a monthly recurring donation as a Liberatus Advocate at the tab below. You can also write Volume Two with us by responding to a one-question interview. We will compile responses to the question about the future you imagine into a new vision asset to guide the stories that we tell, the research that we include, and the partner organizations that we fund.
